Synchronizing with the Right Scale : Territory, Openness and Creativity.
We cannot predict the future, but we can discern its contours.
In the financial market, visualize a canvas where diverse scales seamlessly intertwine. Firstly, there is the scale of empires, military strategists, and political icons—an epoch spanning over five centuries

Territory
Reflect upon figures like Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Hannibal, Julius Caesar, Hitler, Stalin, Suleiman, and contemporary counterparts such as Mohammed bin Salman, Erdogan, Putin, and Xi Jinping. This scale revolves around territorial dominion, where trust is scarce, and economic power depends on territorial conquests securing strategic resources.
Openness
Yet, another scale shapes our civilization—the scale of openness. It embodies the discovery of new routes led by figures like Zheng He, Marco Polo, Vasco da Gama, Christopher Columbus, Pedro Alvarez Cabral, and monumental canals like the Romans', the Suez, and the Panama Canals—a symbol of an era defined by openness. Trust plays a pivotal role here, supported by investors like the Fernandos de Santangel, the Medicis, and the Rothschild.
Creativity
A third scale emerges—the scale of creativity, linked to major technological shifts from the steam engine to penicillin, electricity, the internet, and DeepMind's AlphaFold predicting protein structures. It involves protagonists like Fleming, Tesla, Edison, Berners-Lee, and Jennifer Doudna, alongside visionary venture capitalists and entrepreneurs such as JP Morgan, Andersen and Horowitz, Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Vitalik.
Every synchrony creates a wealth opportunity. The first method sparks violence and social unrest, the second results in a financial crisis and concentrated capital. The third scale necessitates embracing short-term volatility and instability for continuous learning.
So, which scale does our civilization synchronize with today? How do we craft a portfolio capable of resonating with these different scales?
We cannot predict the future, but we can discern its contours.
